Who are we?

Russell A. Vassallo was born in the Downneck section of Newark, New Jersey. Beseiged by asthma, bronchial pneumonia and mastoiditis, he spent his childhood winters alone and bedridden where his favorite pastime was reading the classics.

Russ attended Seton Hall University where he majored in political science and literature.  He entered Seton Hall University School of Law in September, 1958, and graduated three years later.  He did not apply for admission to the New Jersey Bar for ten years.  In the interim Russ worked for two major insurance companies as an investigator and started his own investigation and subpeona business.

Twenty-three years ago Russ and his wife, Virginia, retired to a farm in South Central Kentucky where they live with four horses and one cat.  Over the years there have been other animals all of whom have provided Russ with countless animal stories.

Virginia G. Vassallo was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey.  After nine years in a private girls' prep school, Virginia graduated cum laude and went on to college.  Marriage and two children later she graduated from Montclair State University with a B.A. in history.  After attending Seton Hall University School of Law, she was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1986.

With family roots reaching back to the founding of our country, Virginia has Quaker ancestors who arrived with William Penn.  At least two other ancestors fought in the American Revolution but her most famous ancestor is Benjamin West, the artist.  And, of course, there is her grandfather, Guy T. Viskniskki, who started The Stars and Stripes newspaper.

Virginia is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Kentucky Historical Society and the Stars and Stripes Association.  She has two children, four step-children and thirteen grandchildren.

As Russ's writing career took off, Russ and Virginia found that they needed to understand the busy of producing a book and eventually they founded Krazy Duck Productions so that they could self-publish Russ's books.  At the present time Russ and Virginia are collaborating on a book about Russ's survival from a widow-maker heart attack in February, 2014.
