On this page you will see photos of the animals who are the stars of Heart of Animal. Boots is our fifteen year old cat who had to approve everything that Russ wrote about him.

Sweet Pea is known as "Git" in both Heart of an Animal and Tears and Tales.  She came to us eleven years ago and has been a joy to have.  We just found out that before she arrived at our house, she had been shot because she still has the BB lodged in her chest.

Spooky is a barn cat who, like Boots, is fifteen years old.  She was injured almost two years ago.  We still don't know what happened to her but she dragged herself home when her back legs became paralized.  In helping her to recover, she spent months in our fenced-in back yard learning to walk again.

Taurus was a Doberman that Russ had for almost ten years.  He was a big dog and could be quite intimidating, except all that he wanted to do was lick you and sit on your lap.

Cos was Russ's first horse and a mistake.  He was young and needed an experienced rider.
